BioWare - Wisdom borrowed from nature

BioWare is Huhtamaki’s complete range of high quality single-use cold drink cups, plates, bowls, containers and cutlery, all made from renewable plant materials. Their origin, manufacture and disposal have all been developed to have a lower impact on the environment.

Huhtamaki is the first in Europe to manufacture and commercialize such a complete range of compostable foodservice packaging. Designed to fulfill the needs of various foodservice operators, these products work in uses ranging from outdoor festivals and mass events to catering and daily food and beverage services.

Two key raw materials

BioWare cold drink cups and containers are made from a corn based resin called NatureWorks® PLA. The material is completely natural, made from annually renewable resources and certificated for compostability. Products made from this material are perfectly clear and sturdy, well suited for serving cold food and beverages.

The Chinet range of smooth molded fiber plates and bowls are made from 100% post-industrial paper cup cuttings from Huhtamaki’s own factories. Chinet plates and bowls are rigid and attractive and come in a wide range of unique shapes and sizes perfect for serving both hot and cold food.

All BioWare products decompose completely in the optimal conditions of industrial composting facilities.

A complete range of future friendly products

Cold drink cups
BioWare natural resin cups are glass-clear and function and look like those made from traditional plastics. Despite their natural origin, no compromises have been made on their performance – sturdy, clear cups function perfectly when serving cold beverages.
The sizes currently available are 200, 250, 300, 400 and 500 ml.

Hinged-lid containers
High clarity hinged-lid containers are perfect for cold fresh foods, like salads and desserts and provide excellent food presentation.
The complete range for different uses: 250, 375, 500, 750 and 1000 ml.

Chinet plates & bowls
Chinet plates and bowls made from molded fiber are rigid and attractive, and perform excellently on all occasions where you wish to have the benefits of single use products without having a high impact on nature. Chinet plates are designed for complete meals, both hot and cold and are microwave safe.
Wide range of unique shapes and sizes for different needs.

Wooden cutlery
Wooden cutlery nicely complements the BioWare range. The products available are forks, knives, spoons and stirrers.
